Terms of Service.

By creating a Cariadletters account or making a purchase, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service. The agreement is between you and Cariadletters, operated as a sole trader from Wales, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Cariadletters is a tool that designs and hosts a private website for two people, working from photographs you upload. The output is intentionally one-of-one — there are no two identical sites. The service includes:

• A custom-designed site at <your-slug>.cariadletters.com (or your own domain on the Plus / Forever tiers).
• AI-assisted captions and layout, which you can edit at any time.
• A downloadable PDF photobook of your published site.
• Unlimited regenerations within your plan, both partners as owners, and a 14-day money-back guarantee.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We use Clerk for authentication; if you suspect your account has been compromised, sign out of all sessions from /dashboard/settings and email us.

Both partners on a couple are full owners of the site by default. Either can edit, regenerate, or pause it. If you separate, the “clean split” tool in the dashboard gives each partner an exported archive.

You retain full ownership of every photograph and piece of text you upload. You are not granting us copyright. What you are granting is a limited licence to:

• Store the content on our servers.
• Process it through our AI provider to design the site.
• Display it on the site you have asked us to publish.
• Generate the included PDF photobook of the published site.

This licence ends the moment you delete the content or your account. We will never train AI models on your photographs.

You promise that the content you upload is yours to upload — that you own the photographs or have permission from whoever does, and that publishing them does not infringe anyone’s rights.

The captions, layout suggestions, and palette are drafted by an AI guided by your photos and the style direction you chose. They are starting points. You are the final voice — please read them, change anything that isn’t right, and only publish when you’re happy. We do not warrant that AI-generated text is factually accurate.

You agree not to use Cariadletters to:

• Upload content that is illegal, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or that infringes third-party rights.
• Impersonate another person without consent or upload images of others without permission.
• Probe, scan, or load-test the service; attempt to access another couple’s data; or interfere with availability.
• Resell the service or use it as a generic web-hosting platform.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach this section. We will tell you why and, where possible, give you a chance to fix it.

Prices are in US dollars, pounds sterling, or euros; the currency you see is selected automatically based on your region and is final at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.

Where applicable (UK and EU), VAT or local sales tax is added at checkout and remitted to the relevant tax authority.

We offer a no-questions, full-refund window of 14 days from purchase. To request a refund, email hello@cariadletters.com from the address on your account. We process within one business day; refunds typically appear in 3–10 days depending on your bank.

When the refund is processed, your access to paid features ends and any published site reverts to private.

Beyond the 14-day window, monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and continue until the end of the billing period, after which they do not renew. Forever-tier purchases are not generally refundable after 14 days, but if you have a story we will listen.

The Plus tier is a recurring subscription billed monthly or yearly. It auto-renews until you cancel from /dashboard/billing. If a renewal payment fails, we will retry quietly for a few days; if the payment cannot be collected, the site reverts to private until billing is restored.

You can close your account at any time from /dashboard/settings– deletion is honoured within 72 hours, with a 30-day reactivation grace period before content is permanently removed.

We may terminate or suspend an account that materially breaches these terms. We will tell you why.

The Cariadletters name, the editorial design system, the site templates, and the underlying software are ours. You may not copy, scrape, or reuse them outside the service.

We aim for excellent uptime but the service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that the AI-generated captions are factually accurate; that the service will be uninterrupted; or that your published site will rank in any search engine.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes that cannot be resolved by goodwill emails will be settled in the courts of England and Wales. Consumers resident in the EU retain the protection of mandatory local law.

If we change these terms in any material way we will email you and post a banner on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it; if you don’t, you may close your account and request a pro-rated refund.
